His work is characterized by a constant investigation into the limits of contemporary painting and its expansion into other languages \u200b\u200bsuch as sculpture, installation, ceramics, and textiles. This exhibition revolves around this exploration and the way in which the artist deconstructs the image. The exhibition includes his most recent work in wax. The meaning of Covelo&#8217;s work is strongly linked to contemporary society, especially to the abundance of images and information, and to the hyperconnectivity of the internet, which inevitably affects our observation and attention, and consequently modifies our perception of the image.<\/p><p style=\"font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14.000000953674316px; text-align: justify;\"><strong>Marcos Covelo<\/strong> (Vigo, 1985) is a contemporary artist and associate professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Vigo since 2018. He holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona (2010) and a master&#8217;s degree in Contemporary Art, Creation, and Research from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Pontevedra (2011). At this faculty, she is pursuing her doctorate in Visual Arts as part of the DX7 research group. During her studies, she received scholarships to study in the United Kingdom (Coventry University, 2007) and Berlin (Savvy Contemporary, 2011). Among her most notable achievements are the VEGAP Prize in Madrid (2020), the Zona C Prize (2017), the Novos Valores Prize (2010), and second prize at the 11th Auditorio de Galicia Awards. She also received the University of Vigo Painting Prize in 2018 and completed an artist residency at the Cerveira Biennial Foundation in 2014. She has held solo exhibitions at the RAC Foundation and the Casa Galega da Cultura in Vigo. Her most recent solo exhibitions include \u00abThe Dream of Icarus\u00bb (2022) at SVT in Vigo and \u00abThe Abduction of Europa\u00bb (2018) at Zona C in Santiago de Compostela. Her work has been selected for group exhibitions at important art institutions such as the CGAC in Santiago de Compostela, the MAC in A Coru\u00f1a, and the Gai\u00e1s Centre Museum.<\/p><p an exhibition that embodies the energetic yet fragile circus spirit that characterizes her work.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p style=\"font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14.000000953674316px; text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>Alba Troiteiro<\/strong> (Soutomaior, 1988) is a Galician artist whose work is based on visual language, with a prominent presence of drawing and line as a form of thought and visual expression.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">She develops her work in multiple formats\u2014paper, wall, skin\u2014always with an eye toward emotion and sensitivity, but without losing the structure and graphic force that define her style, also integrating circus elements as a tool for theatrical dialogue.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">She works with photographic archives for inspiration, highlighting chiaroscuro in her pieces and constructing narratives from the female figure and from opposites, like the board of a game.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">A graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Vigo and with a master&#8217;s degree in Artistic Creation and Research from the University of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bshe completed her training in artistic screen printing (EMAO Vigo) and participated in European artistic volunteer programs in Italy. She is part of the Galician Association of Illustration Professionals (AGPI) and her career includes participation in collective exhibitions and stage performances in spaces such as the Reina Sof\u00eda Museum, the Pontevedra Museum, the Auditorium of Galicia, and various festivals and cultural centers in Galicia, Madrid, Barcelona, \u200b\u200bBilbao and The walls of Dupla were filled with oil-painting surfers that made a show of the exposition\u2019s title. Manuel Moranta did the same in a more primitive, lyrical style, where words and drawings combine to perfection. In her works, the study of light and reflections are consistent. The exploration of the Newtonian refraction and the decomposition of white light in colors makes it so her brushstrokes jump and turn towards a certain abstraction.\u00a0<\/p><p>The imagination of Ivan Prieto conceives the characters with a striking sculptural quality. Resolute and with great chromatic richness, he wraps his figures in cloth with heavy folds and arranges them in unbearable and absurd postures. The use of fluorine colors and the playing of textures in those fabulous characters convert them into a hybrid between the human and animal world.
